Welcome to the Philippines, “Pearl of the Orient”. Known for the charm and hospitality of its people, it beckons as a popular holiday destination, owing to its geographic treasure of 7,100 islands, including Cebu, Boracay and Palawan. It was the Asian hub of the Manila-Acapulco galleon trade in the 16th century and was the second wealthiest nation in Asia in the 1960’s. Major industries are telecommunications, tourism and business process outsourcing.
Throughout its history, the Philippine capital has been Manila and its evolution into a progressive metropolis is epitomized by the highly-urbanized districts of Makati, Bonifacio Global City and Ortigas Center.
